I’ve had a strange feeling about WWE 2k15 for the XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 ever since it was announced that My Career would only be included in the Playstation 4 and XBOX ONE versions. I’ve dedicated a previous post about my feelings on video game companies charging the same amount for less content. (https://sellinlikeziggler.wordpress.com/2014/10/09/will-wwe-2k15-change-the-marketing-for-8th-gen-consoles/) But I was completely unaware of how very little effort was invested in to this game for last gen consoles. It seemed a little sketchy that the only footage and playable versions of the game for reviewers were the next gen versions. With facial scanning technology already being used for last gen, one could only assume that the gameplay would be the same, but with lesser graphics. But it seems like 2K’s main focus was next gen, but didn’t want to miss out on a money grab from last gen gamers.
Look, it’s simple. Either develop games for next gen, or develop games for both. Don’t develop games for next gen while pumping out garbage almost unrelated to the title it was marketed as for last gen. Do not try to serve two masters by punishing last gen gamers for not upgrading yet with less quality, while pouring your heart and soul in to next gen. Especially after delivering a great product the year before. It’s insulting to your own fanbase, and can have a negative effect on the franchise in the future. While I haven’t played the game myself, I’ve posted a video review from IGN. Hopefully, selling consumers less for the same price doesn’t become the norm for video game developers in the future. If we’re lucky, this will be a one time incident.
