The new WWE world heavyweight champion will be revealed this Sunday at Survival Series. But due to WWE’s history of being incredibly unsubtle and predictable with how they have handled Roman Reigns, fans are already aware that he will win the title. But as set in stone as a Reigns title run seems, there are new rumors that WWE is considering putting the title on Ambrose instead. The final call comes down to Vince McMahon, but the rumor is that Dean has a lot of backstage support. But again, this is just a rumor. There is no way of telling if it is true or not until we reach this Sunday. But what if Dean Ambrose leaves with the title? What if WWE finally put their faith behind him? If WWE decides to go this less predictable route, Dean Ambrose may actually become the biggest face currently in the company!

Roman Reigns has struggled to connect with fans. WWE’s direction and handling of his character is mostly responsible for that. The only chance Reigns has of becoming a legitimate top star is for him to finally turn heel. But WWE is hellbent on pushing him as a top face regardless of  the lack of interest from fans. But Dean Ambrose is not only a fan favorite, he is currently the perfect replacement for Seth Rollins at the moment. Ambrose delivered a stellar match with Dolph Ziggler on Monday, and then gave an intense promo like only he could. With all eyes on the tournament, that moment stood out as a reminder to fans that Ambrose has the intensity and drive to be their next champion. And a reminder to WWE of how over with the crowd he is.

Dean Ambrose came close to winning the title earlier this year. And while the storyline ended with his pinfall being reversed, there is no denying the huge pop he received when he scored the three count.

And after coming close once again to winning the WWE title, Ambrose delivered a heartfelt promo that was very reminiscent of The American Dream Dusty Rhodes’ “Hard Times” promo.

If the rumors are true, and Vince does decide to put the title on Ambrose, then WWE would have a charismatic champion that they can actually market. WWE’s polls are currently showing that fans are more interested in an Ambrose run than a Reigns title run. And the reaction Reigns will receive after winning the title over a huge fan favorite like Ambrose will do nothing for his career as a face. Now, this rumor could have been spread by WWE themselves to add more of a mystery to who will leave with the title. They’ve used the dirt sheets before to their advantage. And Reigns could possibly win the title while turning heel in the process. But if WWE does decide to give the title to Reigns while still attempting to push him so heavily as a face, Survivor Series will just be another example of how their creative team has dropped the ball with the way they’ve handled Reigns. And worst of all, it will be another missed opportunity for WWE to create another big superstar in the company organically. We will just have to wait and see how Sunday plays out. Hopefully, WWE will become The Ambrose Asylum.
