Grant Gustin revealed the title of the third season of The Flash’s opener today via Twitter. The second season finale ended with what seemed like the beginning of a story inspired by one of the most important comic book storylines in DC’s recent history.
For Flash fans unfamiliar with the Flashpoint storyline, The Flash travels back in time to save his mother. Changing that event sets off a chain reaction, or butterfly effect, that drastically alter the timelines of other DC characters as well. The event is eventually reversed, but after effects of it are still present even today in the DC Universe with DC Rebirth. Unfortunately, the show will have to do without some of the huge characters involved with the comic. So we will have to wait until it premieres in order to see how the show will handle the storyline with the characters they’re allowed to use.
